I read the famous book 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey long ago and among the 7 key habits he mentioned, particularly this one really stayed with me since.
Begin with the end in mind.. Stephen Covey
Being Muslims, we are firm believers of our end clearly told to us centuries ago in Quran -e- Kareem,
Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.
While pondering over this ayah, I remembered the following verse from Bible that I read somewhere,
Genesis 3:19 God tells Adam, “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (NKJV).
Aur Ghalib bhi kia khoob keh gaye hain,
sab kahan kuchh lala-o-gul mein numayaan ho gain
khaak mein kya suraten hongi ki pinhaan ho gain
So when this belief gets rooted deeply within you, you know well you are accountable for every single action to ALLAH no matter major or minor because ALLAH Pak tells us in Quran,
So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it. And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.
You ultimately begin every single action/deed with the consciousness of His Divine presence. On this note, I will leave you with this dua that I came across recently and started incorporating vigorously in all my prayers,
اللهم إني أسألك حسن الخاتمة
O Allah, I ask You for a good end to my life.
